Conductor and Assistant Conductor
Dan Rich comes from the small town of Paris Idaho, where he began playing trumpet in the 4 th grade. He was recognized as a talent and performed at an early age, achieving first chair in the high school band when he was in 6 th grade.Mr. Rich’s education has involved classes at USU, Pennsylvania State University, BYU, and the University of Utah. Kent Nelson was appointed Music Director of the Davis County Symphony in 2014. Dr. Nelson’s experience includes being past Director of the Granite Junior Youth Symphony, an ensemble he had been a conductor for over 25 years. Before retiring (2017) as a school instrumental music teacher at Olympus Junior High School, he conducted the concert bands, string orchestras, percussion ensemble, jazz band, and the guitar ensemble. We are a non audition volunteer orchestra. We welcome adults and students from 9th grade and up. Please feel free to stop by during our rehearsals to get a feel for us. You may call or email our recruitment team, or chat with them after rehearsal.
